Exosome therapy in Istanbul: the signals cells send

Tiny particles released by cells carry biological messages between them. Here is what that means, where our team uses exosome preparations, and how a plan is built.

Exosome Therapy at Our Istanbul Clinic

This page explains what exosome therapy is, how our medical team plans it, and what treatment in Istanbul involves. It is general information rather than a treatment plan: suitability is confirmed only after our team has reviewed your diagnosis, your records, the alternatives open to you, and the goals you want treatment to support.

From cell signaling to a defined product

Cells communicate by releasing tiny particles that carry biological messages, called extracellular vesicles. The illustration follows that biology into a product that can be characterized, handled, and given in a clinical setting.

An illustration of extracellular vesicle biology and of how a preparation made from it is defined, tested, and administered. The signaling it carries is the rationale behind this approach. The view then moves in to extracellular vesicles passing between cells. Both frames are illustrations of the biology, not footage of a patient or a laboratory result, and this visual does not depict a treatment outcome.
Vesicle biology
Extracellular vesicles carry proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids between cells, which is how much of this signaling works.
Product characterization
Source cells, isolation method, particle profile, sterility, storage, dose, and batch consistency are documented for each preparation.
Route and rationale
Topical, local, and intravenous use raise different questions, so each is discussed on its own terms rather than as one product.

What Is Exosome Therapy?

Cells talk to one another by releasing tiny packages into the space around them. Exosomes are one kind of those packages, a class of extracellular vesicle far too small to see without a microscope. Each one carries cargo from the cell that made it: proteins, lipids, signalling molecules and genetic messages such as RNA and microRNA. That cargo is one of the ways a cell changes the behaviour of the cells beside it, and it is the reason extracellular vesicles have become one of the most active areas in regenerative medicine: much of what cells are studied to do for one another travels inside these particles, and the particles can be collected, concentrated and characterised on their own.

Patients ask about this under several different names. An exosome facial and related skin procedures aim at skin quality and the visible signs of ageing. An exosome hair treatment places the preparation into the scalp where thinning is the concern. Exosome injections into a joint or tendon are asked about for musculoskeletal problems, and an exosome IV drip is asked about for broader, whole-body goals. The preparation may be similar; the target, the goal and the planning are not.

Exosome products are not all alike, so our team is specific about the one planned for you: where the preparation comes from, how it was produced and characterised, the testing it passed before release, and how it is stored and handled up to the moment it is given. A clinician administers it, and your plan states the route, the schedule, and what we watch for afterwards. Ask our team about exosome treatment for your skin, scalp or joint concern, and we will tell you which route we would propose.

How Exosome Therapy Works

These are the biological ideas exosome therapy is built on. How much of it applies to you depends on your diagnosis, the goals set during your case review, the route of administration and the rest of your clinical picture, which is what our medical team works through with you.

  • Cells release these vesicles continuously, and researchers study them as a normal channel of cell-to-cell communication rather than as a manufactured drug - the field is working with a system the body already runs
  • The cargo inside - proteins, lipids, signalling molecules and RNA including microRNA - is what a receiving cell may respond to
  • Much of the research asks whether that cargo can influence inflammatory signalling, the chemical conversation behind swelling, redness and pain
  • Other work looks at support for the tissue environment: the growth factors and matrix signals that surround skin, hair follicles, tendons and joints
  • Aesthetic, hair and musculoskeletal uses are investigated separately, so interest in one application does not transfer automatically to another
  • An exosome preparation contains no living cells, which is why it is sometimes planned where a cell product is not the right fit

Stem cells and exosomes are different.

One is a living cell. The other is a cell-derived messenger. The difference shapes how each is sourced, how it is given, and which one our medical team may propose for your case.

  1. 01 / SOURCE

    Living source cells

Mesenchymal stromal cells are living cells. Their behavior depends on source, handling, dose, and biological context.

  2. 02 / SIGNAL

    Released signals

Cells release soluble factors and extracellular vesicles. Exosomes are one subset of these small vesicles.

  3. 03 / RESPONSE

    Local cell response

Nearby cells may respond to those signals. That biological rationale is where treatment planning starts, not a promise of a result.

Your case review

How Our Medical Team Assesses Suitability

The purpose of the review is clarity. Your diagnosis, medical history, reports, imaging, current medication and the goals that matter to you give our team the context to plan treatment, or to tell you that this route is not right for your case.

  • Skin quality concerns where an aesthetic goal can be described and photographed at baseline
  • Thinning hair or scalp concerns that have been assessed, so the cause of the thinning is known before anything is planned
  • Joint, tendon or soft-tissue problems with a clear target on examination or imaging
  • Patients who prefer a cell-free preparation, or whose case makes a cell product less suitable
  • Suitability is confirmed after our medical team reviews your records, medication and any contraindication to the route planned

Setting Realistic Goals for Your Treatment

Before treatment we agree on what we are aiming for: measures that fit your condition, a realistic period over which to review them, and what would count as no meaningful change. Goals are not predictions. Responses vary between patients and no clinical outcome can be guaranteed.

  • Goals are set for the area being treated: skin quality, scalp density, or comfort and movement in a joint or tendon
  • Skin and hair goals are tracked with standardised photographs taken under the same conditions, so a change is visible rather than remembered
  • Musculoskeletal goals are tracked with the pain and function measures chosen for that diagnosis
  • Sessions are planned from what the review shows rather than booked as a standing course
  • Regenerative medicine is planned individually: responses vary between patients, no clinical outcome can be guaranteed, suitability is confirmed only after medical review, and treatment is planned alongside your existing care

Your next step

Find out whether exosome therapy may suit your case

If exosome therapy looks relevant to your diagnosis, the next step is a review of your own records by our medical team. If it does not, we can explain which of the other routes we plan may fit better.

Suitability is confirmed only after our medical team has reviewed your records, and treatment is planned alongside the care you already receive.

  5. Stay in contact after you go home

Before treatment we agree what will be measured, when it will be reviewed, who answers your questions once you are home, and how your own clinician is kept informed.

Exosome Therapy - Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is an exosome?

A tiny particle released by a living cell, one class of what biologists call extracellular vesicles. It carries cargo from its parent cell - proteins, lipids, signalling molecules and RNA - and delivers those messages to other cells. Exosome therapy uses a prepared concentrate of those particles.

Are exosomes the same as stem cells?

No. A cell product contains living cells; an exosome preparation contains the signalling particles cells release, and no cells at all. That is the practical difference: one delivers cells, the other delivers the messages cells send.

What do you use exosome therapy for in Istanbul?

Skin and scalp procedures, local injections around joints and tendons, and intravenous administration where the goal is more general. Each of those is planned separately, with its own target, its own measure and its own consent.

Can exosome therapy help with hair and skin?

These are among the most researched applications, and they are a large part of what we are asked about. Our team starts with the cause of the hair thinning or the skin concern, records a photographic baseline, and sets a goal that photographs at the review point can actually show.

Can exosome therapy help with joint pain?

Inflammatory signalling around a joint or tendon is one of the main research questions behind musculoskeletal use. We plan it from your imaging and examination, and it is often discussed alongside a targeted injection so that the preparation reaches the structure causing the symptoms.

How is the preparation given?

As a skin or scalp procedure, as a local injection into or beside a joint or tendon, or as an intravenous infusion. The route follows the goal rather than preference, and no route is presented as better than another.

Can exosome therapy be combined with umbilical cord MSC treatment?

The two are sometimes planned together, and sometimes one alone is the better answer. Our cell treatment uses mesenchymal stromal cells from Wharton's jelly inside a donated umbilical cord, and an exosome preparation delivers signalling particles and no cells at all. Our medical team explains what each component is there for, prices them separately, and is clear that you can take one without the other.

How do I find out whether I may be suitable for treatment in Istanbul?

Send your confirmed diagnosis, recent reports and imaging, current medications and medical history to our patient coordination team. Our medical team reviews suitability case by case and tells you in writing whether this pathway fits your situation, and what it would involve.

How long do international patients stay in Istanbul?

It depends on the plan our medical team proposes: the procedure, the route, the monitoring, your mobility and the follow-up all affect it. Your written schedule states the number of days before you book flights or accommodation.

Is this treatment safe?

No medical treatment is free of risk, and we are direct about that. Our team reduces the risks that can be reduced: screened donor material, batch testing before release, administration by a physician in a clinical setting, monitoring during and after the procedure, and a written account of the side effects and contraindications that apply to your plan.

What results can I expect?

Your plan states a therapeutic goal and how it will be measured, not a promised outcome. Our medical team explains what change would be meaningful in your case, when it will be reviewed, and what we would do next if that review shows no benefit.

How much does treatment cost in Istanbul?

Pricing is case-specific: the material, the preparation and dose, the route, the number of sessions, the monitoring and any travel services all affect it. Our patient coordination team sends an itemized written estimate so you can see what each part of the plan costs before you commit.

What does the international patient program include?

Your estimate lists the medical review, tests, the procedure itself, monitoring, medications, airport transfers, accommodation arrangements, written discharge information and follow-up as separate lines, so you can see what is included and what is not.

How this guide is maintained

How This Guide Is Written and Reviewed

Editorial reviewHow this guide is reviewed

This guide carries a last-reviewed date. Review asks whether the way we describe exosome therapy and the research behind it still matches the published literature.

Where the evidence is limited, mixed or still emerging, the page says so rather than settling the question in the treatment's favour.

SourcingWhat we count as a source

Peer-reviewed human studies, trial registry entries and regulatory guidance. Laboratory and animal work is labelled as preclinical, and individual case reports are described as case reports.

Marketing material, including our own, is not treated as evidence.

Your treatment planWhat our medical team sets out

Before you agree to anything, our team can set out in writing the material proposed for your plan, how it is sourced, processed and release-tested, the route of administration, the monitoring plan, the full cost with exclusions, and who is clinically responsible for your care.

If any part of that is unclear, ask us. Your plan should make sense to you before you travel.
