Planning Your Treatment Trip to Istanbul

Everything an international patient needs to organise a stem cell therapy trip to Istanbul — visas, airports, transfers, where to stay in Kadıköy, a day-by-day itinerary and what follow-up looks like once you are home.

Why Istanbul Is an Easy City to Treat In

Istanbul is one of the most accessible medical tourism destinations in the world. Two international airports connect the city to more than 130 countries, most nationalities enter visa-free or on a simple e-visa, and the healthcare sector is built around international patients — English-speaking physicians, translators, and clinics that expect a patient to arrive on a Tuesday and fly home on a Saturday.

Our clinic sits in Kadıköy on the Asian side, close to Sabiha Gökçen airport and away from the heaviest tourist traffic, which keeps the daily commute short during a treatment stay. For the wider picture of why Turkey has become a global hub, see our medical tourism in Turkey guide.

    Day by Day

    A Typical Istanbul Treatment Trip

Most international patients complete treatment inside a 3–5 day stay. This is what those days actually look like.

    1. Step01

Before you fly — free case review

You send your diagnosis, recent imaging, laboratory results and medication list. Our Istanbul medical team replies within one business day with honest guidance and an itemized written quote. Travel is only recommended when there is a clear clinical rationale.

    2. Step02

Day 1 — arrival and transfer

Private pickup from Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), transfer to your hotel near the clinic in Kadıköy, and a rest day. No treatment on arrival day — long-haul travel and infusion do not mix well.

    3. Step03

Day 2 — consultation and treatment

In-person consultation, baseline assessment and blood work, then administration of the GMP-aligned UC-MSC protocol by the chosen route — intravenous, intrathecal, intranasal or targeted injection — with monitoring before, during and after.

    4. Step04

Day 3–5 — observation, review and departure

Depending on the protocol, a second session, an exosome or NAD+ booster, or an observation day. Then a final clinical review, a written discharge summary describing exactly what was administered, plain-language aftercare instructions, and a private transfer back to the airport.

    5. Step05

      Months 1–12 — structured follow-up

Check-ins at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months with the same medical team, review of symptom diaries and objective measures, and coordination with your local physician where useful.

    Visas and Documentation

US, UK, EU, Gulf and most Commonwealth passport holders enter Turkey visa-free or with an e-visa issued online in minutes. Bring your passport with at least six months validity, your e-visa confirmation if applicable, and printed or digital copies of your recent medical reports, imaging and prescription list. We issue an official medical invitation letter from the clinic on request — useful for visa applications, employer leave, and insurance documentation.

    Where the Clinic Is

Treatment takes place at our clinic in Suadiye, Kadıköy — on the Asian side of Istanbul, roughly 40 minutes from Sabiha Gökçen and an hour from Istanbul Airport depending on traffic. Partner hotels are within a short drive.

    Cost of the Trip

Treatment pricing, transfers and accommodation are quoted together in a single itemized written package before you book flights — see the full stem cell therapy cost in Turkey guide for how that number is built. Flights and personal spending are the only significant costs a patient arranges independently. Before comparing destinations on price, read the honest condition-by-condition success rate review and the Turkey vs Mexico comparison.

    FAQ

Travelling to Istanbul for Treatment — Common Questions

How long is a stem cell therapy trip to Istanbul?

Most international patients stay 3–5 days: one day to arrive and rest, one to two focused treatment days at the clinic in Kadıköy, and a final day for monitoring before flying home. Multi-session protocols and complex neurological cases can run longer, and patients combining treatment with sightseeing often extend to 5–7 days.

Do I need a visa to travel to Turkey for treatment?

Most nationalities enter Turkey visa-free or with an e-visa obtained online in minutes, including US, UK, EU, Gulf and most Commonwealth passport holders. We provide an official medical invitation letter from the clinic on request for patients whose travel paperwork requires it.

Which Istanbul airport should I fly into?

Either works. Istanbul Airport (IST) on the European side has the widest long-haul network; Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) on the Asian side is closer to our Kadıköy clinic. We arrange a private transfer from whichever airport you land at — typically 30–60 minutes to the clinic or hotel depending on airport and traffic.

Where do patients stay during treatment in Istanbul?

Premium hotel accommodation close to the clinic in Kadıköy is included in most all-inclusive packages. Staying on the Asian side keeps the daily commute to the clinic short, which matters more than a central tourist location when you are recovering.

    Can I bring a companion?

Yes, and we encourage it — particularly for pediatric cases, neurological cases and anyone travelling long haul. Companions are welcome at the clinic and can be added to transfer and accommodation arrangements.

Can I sightsee in Istanbul during my treatment trip?

Usually yes, in moderation. Most patients feel well enough for light activity between and after treatment days. Hagia Sophia, the Bosphorus, the Grand Bazaar and the Asian-side neighbourhoods around Kadıköy and Moda are all reachable in a short trip. We advise against heavy exertion, alcohol and sun exposure in the days immediately after infusion.

What happens after I fly home?

Follow-up is structured at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months, coordinated by the same medical team, and we can liaise with your local treating physician where that is useful. Regenerative effects unfold over weeks to months, so what happens after the trip matters as much as the days in Istanbul.

    Internal Resources

Before you book your Istanbul trip

The clinic, the pricing and the realistic outcomes — the three pages most patients read before booking flights.

    Cost, Outcomes & Istanbul

Most international patients begin by reading about our stem cell clinic in Istanbul, Turkey, then review the full cost of stem cell therapy in Turkey and published success rates by condition. From there it helps to compare Turkey vs Mexico for stem cell therapy, understand why we use umbilical cord MSCs, and read what to expect day-by-day during treatment. If you are researching a specific diagnosis, our condition pages — including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, ALS, autism spectrum disorder, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetes — explain how UC-MSC protocols are adapted to that diagnosis.
